Mainstage design and production
Solar Weekend is the festival where you can escape reality, and where nothing is too crazy. A different planet where creativity, dance, music, and madness come together.
This year, we had the amazing opportunity to design and build the festival’s entire mainstage.
Imagine a place where land and water come together once a year to form a magical island. A place bursting with color, life, and unforgettable experiences.
This idea was the starting point for our concept.
The design was born from the fusion of Tattoo Tommes’ (Tom) old-school tattoo style and WaveYourBrand’s (Dion) colorful flat design style. This unique blend perfectly matches the vibrant and colorful atmosphere of the festival.
Here’s the first 3D visualization of the mainstage.
Two months in advance, we began the execution. We had a large portion of the panels professionally cut, ensuring everything looked sharp.
We started by projecting the base lines onto each panel so we could accurately apply the design. Then, we painted each panel one by one—about 150 in total!
To truly bring the mainstage to life, we carefully considered the use of LED screens during the design phase. Based on the design, we animated various elements in an almost trippy way, making the stage literally come alive.
The result? A massive, bold, colorful, and surreal stage that constantly watches over the entire festival and draws visitors toward the mainstage.
